Don’t Be Fooled By A “Storm Chaser”

When a storm blows through our area, it brings with it more than just high winds and damaging hail. It also brings the dreaded “Storm Chaser.” If your home’s roof is damaged by a storm, we wish to provide a word of caution as you go about the process of repairing or replacing your roof and dealing with the insurance company. We want to warn you to be wary of so-called Storm Chasers. Storm Chasers are dialed into the Weather Channel and whenever a storm hits they pack up and head to that area. They strike while the iron is hot and try to replace as many roofs as possible and then move to the next storm-ravaged area.

Now that’s all well and good, but they don’t necessarily care about the quality of the roof they install— they just want to replace as many roofs as humanly possible. Once the jobs dry up or their reputation is destroyed, they move on to the next storm-inflicted territory.

Unfortunately, many homeowners are left high and dry once Storm Chasers leave because they typically disconnect their local telephone number or their warranties are useless. If you have any problems after your roof is replaced you might even have trouble collecting your insurance check. Since many Storm Chasers carelessly slap on roofs, many manufacturer warranties are null and void, leaving you holding the bag.

What to do? Only call a qualified, professional roofer such as your friends at Schneider Roofing and Remodeling. We look out for your interests and will make sure that your roof—and your life—get back to normal after a storm.
